How to Christmas Shop for an Archer

Archers can be tricky to shop for because archery equipment depends entirely on an individual’s personal preference. But with some careful prodding, you can get the information you need to find an amazing gift for the archer in your life.

Start by finding your local archery shop. This is the best place to buy the gift, as the staff will assist you with choosing the perfect present. Finding a shop in your area is easy with the Archery 360 store locator. If you’re lucky enough to have multiple stores nearby, see if you can discover the archer’s preferred shop. One way to casually bring it up in conversation is to say, “My friend wants to try archery. What archery shop would you recommend?”

The most crucial piece of information you’ll need is the type of archery they enjoy. Archers have a wide variety of bows and archery disciplines from which to choose. The easiest way to get this information is to take a picture of their bow. Show the photo to the shop associates so they know which type of equipment upgrades to suggest. If you can sneak out of the house with one of their arrows, even better. The arrow offers a treasure trove of information that the shop associates can use to make a new custom set of arrows or suggest the right arrow components.

Has the archer in your life mentioned any archery goals? Maybe a desire to overcome a struggle they’re having, or an interest in competition? That information is hugely helpful for figuring out a good gift. For example, if they’ve mentioned they have had trouble with target panic, you can gift them some excellent books, online courses, or even hypnosis sessions. Also, archery lesson packages are always a great gift for anyone interested in improving their skills or working their way out of a slump.

Has the archer mentioned they don’t have time to get to the range? Setting up a home range is a practical gift for the archer looking to shoot more without leaving the house. The archery shop will help you pick the right target. Watch the video to help you determine if your yard is suitable for an archery range.

If you’re shopping for a youth archer who is trying the sport for the first time, archery lessons and youth bow packages are excellent gifts. You can schedule the introductory lesson ahead of the holiday and use a rental bow provided by the shop. In that lesson, the young archer and their parent will learn the basics of archery safety and form. That way, when they receive their bow as a gift they already know how to safely shoot it.

If you’re still not sure what to buy, you can’t go wrong with a gift card to their favorite archery shop or range. Another idea is a group archery lesson, so you can participate in the lesson with them and make the experience even better. Who knows – maybe next year someone will need these tips to find you an archery gift!
